Message in the Wind

I stood at the edge of nowhere
With a sky that refused to speak
The sun had left without warning
And the night felt bitter and weak
No letter, no signal, no sound
Just your name on a breath I let out

And maybe the wind will carry it far
To wherever, whoever you are

So I sent a message in the wind
No envelope, no ink, no skin
Just hope wrapped in a broken voice
A silent scream without a choice
I don't know if it reached your door
Or scattered across the ocean floor
But I sent a message in the wind
'Cause I couldn't keep it in

You used to live in my mornings
Now you're part of the dusk instead
I speak to the air like a secret
To the space beside my bed
I tell it things I never told you
And pray the wind might follow through

It's foolish, I know, but still I try
To speak to you through an empty sky

So I sent a message in the wind
Through every place we might've been
Through rusted gates and neon signs
And every word I left behind
I don't know if it touched your skin
Or faded before it could begin
But I sent a message in the wind
For the part of you still within

Maybe you'll feel it brushing past
Like a memory dressed in overcast
A faint hello, a half-closed door
A whisper that you can't ignore

So I sent a message in the wind
Without a start, without an end
It's not enough, but it's all I had
A heart still speaking through the sad
If one day, you feel something thin
That's me, just a message in the wind
